ParaSite @ The Iron Fish Trading Company Presents:"PpAaIiNnTtIiNnGg"James Sheehan, Alison Moritsugu, Louis CameronAugust 13th - August 28th, 2005Opening Reception : Saturday, August 13th, 5-8pm***Tailgate BBQ"PpAaIiNnTtIiNnGg" - The word "painting" spelled out in small and capital letters, is an exhibition exploring the various approaches to contemporary painting, how we see, engage, and eventually come to understand the complex vocabulary used by painters today. Using the formal qualities of the medium, such as scale, support, surface and color. James Sheehan, Alison Moritsugu, and Louis Cameron find very unique and idiosyncratic ways to express their personal concerns, while adding their own individual voice, to the long history of painting.

James Sheehan (Brooklyn, NY) Has an M.F.A from The Tyler School of Art, Temple University and a B.A. in Art History/Fine Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, CA. His work has been included in national and international exhibitions in New York, Montreal, Tokyo, Prague, Switzerland, and Germany. Awards include the Pollack-Krasner Foundation Grant, The Marie Walsh Sharpe Foundation Studio Program, LMCC: World Trade Center Residency and ARCUS Residency: Ibaraki Prefecture in Moriya, Japan.

Alison Moritsugu (Beacon, NY) Has been the recipient of numerous grants, fellowships and residencies including ones from the MacDowell Colony, The Bronx Museum of the Arts' "AIM Program", Yaddo, the Cite' Internationale des Arts in Paris and New York Foundation for the Arts Painting Fellowship. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washington University School of Fine Arts in St. Louis, Missouri, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Visual Arts in New York.

Louis Cameron (Brooklyn, NY) Since earning an MFA at Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in 1997, Cameron has participated in the Artist-In-Residence program at the Studio Museum in Harlem. He has had solo exhibitions at I-20 gallery, Art in General, and Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects. His work has also been featured in exhibitions at the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore, and internationally at Galerie Chez Valentin, Paris, and M'ARS Gallery, Moscow. Currently his work is on view in "Abstraction" at the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, New York."PpAaIiNnTtIiNnGg" will be on view at ParaSite Art Space, located inside The Iron Fish Trading Company, 167 Main Street, Beacon, NY, from Aug 13th -August 28th, 2005.
